This 2013 Japanese Drama in 150 Episodes is about Meiko , who is the daughter of Daigo, who owns a western restaurant in Tokyo. Meiko , who lives through the Taisho and Showa eras(=1912 to 1989), loves to eat the omelette prepared by Daigo, and the nukaduke (pickles) prepared by her mother, Iku. Theirs is a warm, close knitted family, and Meiko's love for food grows with age. Even now, when she is in an all-girls' high school, her mind is filled with thoughts of food all the time.

 

In this scene, when Meiko is still very young, she steals (garden) strawberries that were used as an offering for the Buddha and their ancestors (and that was one expensive food in those days) from a (Buddhist) temple together with some boys, but they are caught and when she gets back home she receives a spanking with a big tray and no dinner as a punishment by her mom´.
