In 1996, the now defunct TV station Rede Manchete successfully adapted the film plot of “Xica Da Silva” from 1976 to the telenovela format, directed by Walter Avancini, written by Walcyr Carrasco and starring Taís Araújo as the title character. This telenovela marked the first time an Afro-Brazilian actress played the lead role on a TV show. In 2005, SBT re-aired Xica da Silva.
It is a romanticized retelling of the true story of Chica da Silva, an 18th century African slave in the state of Minas Gerais, who attracts the attention of João Fernandes de Oliveira, a Portuguese sent by Lisbon with the Crown's exclusive contract for mining diamonds, and eventually becomes his lover.

A part of the series deals with the family of town mayer Capitano Gonçalo. His two daughters Ana and Isabel regurlarly get into mischief of different sorts, which earns them regular on – screen spankings!

In this scene, it seems,Javier asks for the allowance to see Isabel, and is told by her father to leave the house. The angry mayor takes Isabel over his knee and spanks her, then leaves in anger. Isabels mother, now in anger too, takes her across her lap and continues the spanking, and, when finished, takes the younger sister Ana over her knee and spanks her bottom too, just in case.

A Spanish description of this scene says:

Se molesta con su esposa y se va a la calle. La señora Cielo esta ahora molesta por esto y agarra a Isabel y le da unos azotes y luego agarra a Anita y tambien le da otros azotes por si las moscas.

After Javier asking for young Isabels hand as a fiancée, her father , the mayor reacts by first delivering some swats to Javier, then he takes his daughter Isabel across his knee and starts to spank her bottom soundly. Inspired by that, his wife takes the younger daughter over her knee and delivers a sound spanking to her behind, without there being an actual reason why she deserved it.
