THE ROOKIE COP (1939) Spanking Scene Suspected

I have no actual proof, it is just a suspicion as the title of the post suggests.

But I want to put the challenge to you:

Something from this still , from "the Rookie Cop" in which a young Virginia Weidler with her little dog supports a young policeman in catching a bunch of thieves, a still I came across a while ago, points towards a possible spanking.

There is a picture before that, showing some kind of argument between Virginia and her little dog, and that man and his big dog. The way he holds her, the knees somewhat bent, her skirt partially raised, so that her panties are visible - suggest to me, that there might - just might ! - have been an otk situation going on before.

Who will find the truth?

ADDITION: I could watch the move in the meatime, and there is no spanking scene of any kind in it.

QUEM TEM MEDO DE LOBISOMEM?/ WHO’S AFRAID OF THE WEREWOLF? (1975)

1970ies brazilian horror flic:
Two young men in search of adventure meet Iracema, a bride who's been left waiting at the church. They give her a ride on their jeep, until they find the most strange family: a couple with seven girls and a son. According to popular tradition, a man born after seven girls is bound to become a werewolf
Starring, written and directed by Reginaldo Faria.

Interesting to us, because of a blog entry on a forum for "palmadas e telenovelas" whre a contributor called "anonymous" says this (rough google translator translation):

"Who's afraid of a werewolf", Reginaldo Faria, a movie is pretty lame, but it has a little girl who takes a beating on the bottom belt. She lifts her skirt and her father gives her several belts in the butt in front of the whole family.

I could see the film in the meantime and it is clear, that its no little girl in that scene but a young woman. Its also not a belting but a whipping.  I consider it therefore to be wrongly reported.

CAPTAIN JANUARY (1938)

Bostn Bobs list on spanking scenes in mainstream movies writes about that Shirley Temple film:

Captain January (1936) Guy Kibbee, Shirley Temple: JF

As watching the movie proves (it is watcheable via youtube under http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0uVt_QHj1c and the following 7 parts) there is no such scene in this movie.

According to today’s knowledge Shirley Temple never was spanked in one of her movies (although being often spanked in real life as she claims herself), but often posted for publicity stills on that subject.

Nevertheless there is, as the clip (discovered by Cinndunc. thanks) shows, a spanking threat in the film, which maybe led to the movie being…

…wrongly reported.

THE FIBBER MCGEE SPANKING

A long time ago I stumbled across this very old post at the "spanking in movies and TV" yahoo group, which at thtat time didn't exist anymore already. It's post number 309 nine. It says:

In spankingmoviestv@y..., Madison Ann wrote:

The hints in this post are quite clear, and researc seemed easy since Jim Jordan who played "Fibber MCGee" only starred in four movies;

1. Heavenly Days (1944)
2. Here We Go Again (1942)
3. Look Who's Laughing (1941)
4. This Way Please (1937)

But all four were extremely rare. Then, over a couple of months all four turned up on "usenet". I checked all of them - there is no such scene in none of those frour movies. Maybe edited out for DVD release?
Or, what seems more probable, did the woman who wrote that post maybe mix it up, or did not get it right then? What if the host only mentioned Fibber McGee, but not directly referring to the movie? That would lead to films with the great Gildersleeve and Edgar Bergen who once starred with Jim Jordan (as McGee) in one of those four films.

Nevertheless, due to the fact that the memory in the original post seems to be very vivid and elaborate and partly vague, as memories are, I still think it's real and such a clip exists (in some other 40ies ilm), and imagination just played a trick o that woman by placing it wrongly.

JOHNNY DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (1944)

According to bostnbob's list of spanking scenes in mainstream movies, this early Robert Mitchum vehicle should contain a double spanking scene. The Summarys I read seem to suggest that this scene can only take place in the epilogue of the film.

Since that film had the re-issue title "AND SO THEY WERE MARRIED" it's also possible that the original report was a mix up.

spankers: Simone Simon (picture) and James Ellison (picture)
spankees: unknown female and male spankee.

I could see the film in the meantime. It does not contain any spanking, there is not even a role for a little grl. Therefore my suspicion that the film was mixed up, because of its second title, must be true.

director: Joe May
