Swedish movie adapted from the novel by Astrid Lindgren, who also wrote the screenplay. Young Madita at first hates the poor new schoolgirl, but when the new girl Mia steals the headmasters wallet (to buy candy for the whole class) and gets caned for it, since she refuses to confess, Madita steps in to defend her, which is the beginnig of a friendship
