Cupid's Pranks , an early Edison movie,
cinematographed by nobody else than Edwin S. Porter (“The Great Train Robbery”)
himself, begins with a classic image of the young winged Cupid – played by a
child actress! - whispering in the ear of Venus. We then see Cupid in a cavern
forging love-arrows. He falls asleep near the forge when Jupiter stops by and
gives the kid a spanking for sleeping on the job.
Due to the picture quality it cannot be said for sure if we get to see a bare bottom here or skin suit. In a movie from the precode era both would be possible.
Jupiter then gives the kid a lecture on the responsibilities of the gods and sends him off to shoot a few arrows.
