Asa ga Kita (あさが来た^?) is a Japanese television drama series,  based on a novel which draws its inspiration from the life of Asako Hirooka , a businesswoman and teacher who lived from the Bakumatsu era to the Taisho era. Her husband Shingoro Hirooka was a founding member of Japan Cotton Trading Company.

 

In the first two episodes we witness two childhood spankings of our heroine in a very unusual manner – namely being put over the shoulder or lifted – by Asa’s father (or is it the grandfather?)
