MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS (1944) F/f threats

From the classic Hollywood musical based on the book by Sally Benson

St. Louis 1903. The well-off Smith family has four beautiful daughters, including Esther and little Tootie. 17-year old Esther has fallen in love with the boy next door who has just moved in, John. He however, barely notices her at first. The family is shocked when Mr. Smith reveals that he has been transfered to a nice position in New York, which means that the family has to leave St. Louis and the St. Louis Fair.

There are two spanking related scenes in that film.

Scene One

After having had an unpleasant encounter with his youngest daughter rollerblades on the stairs, the head of the family asks her to remind him to spank her right after dinner.

Threater: Leon Ames
Threatee: Margeret O‘Brien

Scene Two

The oldest sister has positioned a young Margeret O'Brien and is stopped just when her hand is about to be applied to the naughty bottom.

Threater: Judy Garland
Threatee:Margaret O‘Brien

director of both scenes: Vincente Minelli

Note:  In An Interview with Allan R. Ellenberger adult Margeret O'Brien recalls to be spanked on the film set of BAD BASCOMB (1946) when she was 9 years old:

AE: Were there any other interesting things that happened on location?

Margaret O’Brien: Sylvan S. Simon directed the picture, and one day I got into a fist fight with his daughter who was working as an extra. That was the only fist fight I ever got into as a kid. We got into some disagreement—I forget what it was about—and our parents pulled us away. I got a spanking, and she got sent to a boarding school when she got home (laughs). Then years later we became real good friends, and she turned out to be one of the sweetest girls I ever met.
