Two youngsters declare to their parents that
they want to get married. Not sometime in the future but as soon as possible.
The story is told from the children's point of view.
The threat in question comes when Melody , under the
influence of the boys, misbehaves at home & her mother tells her: If your
dad was here you'd get a good hiding." One feels that even if Dad
was not at the pub this would have been unlikely to happen writes
