NICE GIRL? (1941) M/f, otk, coat, w



NICE GIRL? is a wonderful slice of Americana, a lovingly rendered depiction of life in small-town Connecticut in the early 1940s,based on a play by Phyllis Duganne:

Oliver Dana is a high school principal and scientist on the verge of publishing a book on nutrition. He has three daughters: glamorous Sylvia is an aspiring actress; little Nancy is boy-crazy and prone to verbal gaffes; and middle daughter Jane is a musically talented "nice girl" with a good head on her shoulders.

In the scene in question, Jane has troubles with the boy she loves, and hides from him. Her father warns her little 13 year old sister Nancy not to tell the boy, where and how her big sisters is, or else promises her a spanking. Fortunately, she does not follow his advice...
