A middle-aged German couple is put to the test when six-year-old Marie, an adoptee, enters into their lives. Vivacious, bright, and love-starved, Marie seems like the perfect fit, but a battle for affection quickly ensues between Marie and her adoptive mother that climaxes in a horrifying conclusion.
