PROBABLE IDENTIFICATION "LADDIE (1940)"?

The „PRIMROSE PATH“ clip brought me, as I think, close to identify a well known but unnamed still. I had already posted it here, but to the file name had connected it with the 1928 movie „MOTHER KNOWS BEST“. That might very well be wrong. The Face of child actress Joan Carroll in a still from another film reminded me of something…

If the spankee from that still in question would be Joan Carroll, and there seems to be at least a resemblance, and if that spanker would be Martha O‘ Driscoll,and there seems to be a good resemblance there too, then it would bring us directly to the only film in which both of them starred:

LADDIE (1940)
Directed by Jack Hively.
Based on a novel by Gene Stratton-Porter, that was filmed at least three times.

Interestingly BostnBobs List of Spankings In Mainstream Movies contains rudimentary information on a spanking from that film, involving Martha O’Driscoll.

I quote the list:

„ ? Laddie (1940) ?, Martha O'Driscoll [?]“

That does not necessary mean that Martha O’Driscoll is the spankee….could very well be vice versa.

If the spanking still really would be from „Laddie (1940)“ than this would have the sad consequence that we would not have access to that film. There os no DVD (and therefore no DVDrip uploaded) there is no VHS (and therefore no VHSrip uploaded) and there seem to be no clips at all, so unless somebody uploads a TV rip, which very rarely happens, there is no chance in ever finding out more. On the other side: With „AND SO THEY WERE MARRIED“ it happened.

Let’s have an eye on usenet , I say.

And if the spanking still really should be from „Laddie (1940)“ than it does also not necessarily mean, that there is such a scene in the movie. It could be just a publicity still. On the other hand, the only child star that got spanking stills or Lobbycards without having such a scene in the films, is Shirley Temple.
So maybe…..?
